Fell in love with jazz after seeing and hearing the Charles Mingus Quintet with Eric Dolphy in my hometown of Biel-Bienne, Switzerland on my 17th birthday, back in 1964. Started to learn alto saxophone in 1973. Mostly self-taught, with the exception of workshops with piano legend Joe Haider (had a big band with Slide Hampton) and lessons with the great, late George Robert. Currently playing lead alto in an amateur big band. Love jazz from Swing to Free. Some of my alto heroes are Charlie Parker, Cannonball, Art Pepper, Lee Konitz, George Robert, Charlie Mariano and Dick Oatts.
