Develop your repertoire and learn better!!!
Locomotion by John Coltrane is a composition is a AABA form: the A section is a blues with a simple motif on the first 8 bars while the last 4 bars are improvised and the B is an 8-bar section also improvised over dominant chords descending chromatically from the bVII to the V.
Coltrane originally recorded this composition on his 1958 Blue Train album.
In this lesson, we study the harmonic progression, chords scales and do a detailed analysis of Coltrane’s solo from which we select ideas and concepts to practice and integrate in our own playing.
