“Satin Doll” is a jazz standard written in 1953 by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn with lyrics by Johnny Mercer.
The melody of this 32-bar AABA form is simple and easy to memorize. The harmonic progression has many II V, some secondary dominants, a subV and the bridge goes to the IV. It’s a great tune to practice your swing feel.
