Hello ,
In this video we go over the song Bongo Bop, a blues composed by Charlie Parker. In the first part you will find the transcription in all 12 keys and we discuss these topics:
– the do solfege
– some of the harmonic features of this song (that will be found again in Lee’s solo)
– how to choose some Major triads to make a dominant 7th chord sounds altered
– how to write a chromatic voice leading and play major or minor triads over that line: for instance over a G-7 | C7 | F Maj 7 | D7 turnaround I could use D- | A/C# | C | B
In the second part we discuss: motif development, rhythmic activity, articulations, transposing in 12 keys, rhythmic placement, tensions, target notes, superimposed triads, altering a dominant 7th chord, voice leading
