Hi ,
Aldo Salvent, saxophone teacher at the Florida International University, compiled 10 exercises to practice major scales. He asked to me to demonstrate Exercise #3 at 140bpm.
In this video I discuss:
– how I practice these exercises
– target notes
– how to use the metronome
– how to use different articulations
– how to use the exercise creatively in my improvisation
– hard skills
You can find his books on Apple Book and Amazon but it’s always better to purchase right from the artist’s website!
If you want to purchase his books, go there:
I got his altissimo guide for tenor sax, and will check that out. Looks like it has some different fingerings than the ones I use now. I got the Chad Lefkowitz-Brown scale workouts, and they’re similar to this material. Lots of good warmups and mental practice, especially as you move to more sharps/flats and add some variations of your own.
